Venable Hall and Bell Tower

Venable Hall’s history dates back to 1824 when construction began using bricks made from local clay and water and then fired in a nearby kiln. In 1910 the building was renamed for Major Richard M. Venable who had earlier purchased the building in the name of Hampden-Sydney College from the Union Theological Seminary. Venable Hall is currently used as a dorm, lecture hall, and a lounge for parents and friends. The finely detailed print was reproduced from an original pencil drawing. A brief history of the building is included on each print’s certificate of authenticity.
