Campus Prints of U.S. Military Academy – West Point, New York
Looking across West Point’s parade field, known as “The Plain”, one is immediately struck by the immensity of Washington Hall. It is flanked on one side by Eisenhower Barracks and on the other by MacArthur Barracks. Built of granite from the northeastern United States, the original section was completed in 1926. The Cadet Chapel, also constructed of eastern granite, was dedicated in 1910. The chapel, blending well with the landscape, is pictured on the hillside overlooking Washington Hall. On the skyline to the right of the Cadet Chapel, is Fort Putnam, one of several fortifications constructed in the West Point area during the Revolutionary War.
