McConnell Library was completed in 1932 and was named for the school’s first president, Dr. John Preston McConnell. In 1911, when the college was called “The State Normal and Industrial School for Women”, Dr. McConnell began his term of office and served through 1937. In 1967, the two-story library was remodeled and enlarged by an annex with four floors. 1994 saw an addition of five floors, which approximately doubled the space for seating and collections. McConnell Library has grown from a traditional depository for books and documents to an up-to-date information center.
